A Worried Parent

Mellia — Awp

????, Fire Season, Season/Illusion Week

Fire Season/Illusion Week/Freezeday/early evening. [[[s01:session-42|Session 42]]]

After Session 42 and [[[mellia:alfa|A Little First Aid]]]

There is the chief of the Clan, who would like a word.

Mellia curtseys. “How may I aid you, Clan Chief?”

“I’m looking for answers to a very old question,” he says. “Old enough to be a grown man now.”

“If I can help, I will,” Mellia says. “I take it you are looking for someone?”

“My son is ill,” he says, “And my daughter strange. I think it has something to do with events you have just seen.”

Mellia looks thoughtful. “It may be. May I ask why you think your son and daughter’s afflictions have something to do with this?”

“You should meet them. It might make things more clear, and out here? I prefer not to talk.” Silor shrugs. “But ask your merchant friend for more details. He likely holds some key I can not grasp.”

“I will do that,” Mellia says, “and I will gladly meet your children once we return to your home.”

“Yamia is over by the cross,” he says. “She does not get on with your guard.”

Mellia nods and looks at Yamia. What can Mellia determine?

From a distance she looks healthy. She is what some people would call pretty. Her eyes are fixed on the undergrowth as she watches for incoming enemies.

Hmm. Yamia is on watch duty, so this is not the time to talk to her and ask hard questions. “And your son?”

“Venlar has a weak spirit. He never really grew or strengthened as an adult. I worry far more for him, to be honest. Yamia can fit in with her Temple.” Silor sounds uncomfortable.

“I will look at Venlar once we reach the village, then.”

Silor nods, the very image of Orlanth reaching agreement with himself. “You have my thanks.”

Mellia smiles at him. Inwardly, she’s worried. Still, soon enough to worry when she gets a good look at Venlar and Yamia.
