Events

Having survived the troll caves and the Mostali site, and with Mellia’s long-sought after spirit attached, the healer decided she needed to visit the Nunnery again. The party first travelled to Beasts Gather, where Berra collected Lord Raven and then said her goodbyes.

Once Berra had gone, the rest made their way to the Nunnery so that Mellia could ask her questions. Irillo kept himself busy by examining his new treasures and plotting out what trade goods he needed to bring for his next journey in this direction.1Irillo is busy making notes about where has a major food surplus, that will survive a trip to the trolls. And lots of spices.

“Uh……  dried smoked fish? Maybe? And those little dried chilis that Berra likes. Perhaps a medley of all the herd beasts? But would trolls appreciate the work involved in that? Not sure. Should ask Salid about that. Pepper? Black and long? Allspice? Cinnamon?”

“Grain, for beer, I suppose. They won’t be able to grow that. Perhaps something distilled?”

At the Nunnery, Mellia talked to the High Healer, who initially waved Finrik away, only to recall him after hearing what the Esrolian needed. Mellia’s wyter spirit was not yet in communication with her and she needed some way to sustain its life. The shaman got excited about binding spirits and was nearly chased off again. In the end, it was worked out that there might be some sort of life source for the moth spirit on Rocktopus, as the Sister had mentioned a cave of insects.

When they returned to the Six Sisters in the midst of heavy rainfall, they noticed a thick cloud that turned out to be a cloud of insects at the mouth of a cave. The cave was full of beetles and moths and other flying things. While Irillo rigged up a shelter outside, Lenta danced to clear a safe path for Mellia into the cave, so that the healer would not harm anything. They spent hours in there, with Lenta dancing until she couldn’t and then doing it again once she’d recovered, and Mellia attempting to commune with the spirit. Outside, Irillo and Maalira were doing what they could to prevent any of the insects from dying in their fire, while Varanis kept guard from a perch above the cave entrance. At last, Mellia got through to the spirit and it agreed to come with her.

Sodden and exhausted, our heroes eventually made their way to Blue Tree tula.2With a brief stop in Fox Hollow, where Lenta found a one-night-stand. Before they even arrived, they were greeted by an exuberant, muddy3Fumbled DEXx5 Venlar who had been driving the villagers mad with his plans to welcome his wife. There was a feast and much celebration, for most. Irillo met his son Tamakt again, only to find the child not very childlike. Several people expressed concern to him about Yamia’s capacity for motherhood, which nearly led to an unpleasant scene between him and the Humakti. Some of the villagers even tried to involve Maalira in the whole thing, but she wisely demurred. No one died and everyone ate well.
