What Really Happened
The party made for Dangerford to regroup with Irillo. The journey to Dangerford was mostly uneventful/1Because no one rolled any fumbles They did spend one night outside a few caves formed by the skull of a dragon. As Yelmrise approached on Clayday, they were visited by a couple of dragon newts, with whom they exchanged some gifts.
Varanis offered fruit, and the smaller dragonewt pronounced it not good enough for the other, but ate it. It gave her a crystal. It said perhaps they would meet again, when it had a beak, after she gave it some salt. Berra, as interested in it as it was in her, managed to offend it with her body language. Rajar gave it beer and jerky, and it gave him a handful of feathers which he put into his beard. After giving the smaller dragon newt a scarf, Valseena was given a large patch of his skin.
When the party arrived in Dangerford, they found Irillo in the market, fleecing the locals. After some discussion, he agreed to make for Boldhome and report to Lord Tennebris. He helped Xenofos and Varanis replace their zebras with horses. Xenofos needed a cavalry-trained mount, but Varanis traded her highly trained zebra for a riding horse, bringing in 60 L. They spent the eve of Windsday in the relative comfort of an inn.
They decided to head towards Alda Chur overland, by way of the Creek. Varanis and her new horse took a tumble into the rapidly moving water. The horse swam to shore and Varanis followed after using the spell gifted to her by the Goddess of Salt and Teeth. Her swimming was uncannily like a crocodile’s. Suuraki noticed baby crocodiles swimming away from her and hailed her as the water bringer.
Eventually, they made it safely to Alda Chur, where they learned that Argrath was now king there and that the Feathered Horse Queen had been gone for some time. Berra divined to learn that Death was still in the world.2She asked Humakt ‘how are you?’ Her vision was of war, and Death surviving it. She also asked Gallem, High Sword of Humakt in Alda Chur, about the movements of the Feathered Horse Queen, and was able to work out which way to go to cut off a couple of days of riding. The Praxians visited the Storm Bull Temple, Varanis the Storm Temple, and Xenofos both the Library and the Temple of Uleria.3Xenofos had a busy night. In prayer.
Taking the Tarsh Road west, they pursued the Grazelander army. After passing some distance from Snake Pipe Hollow and the Dwarf Mine, they followed the army’s tracks off the road south towards the Shaker Temple. They saw a dinosaur in the distance, probably not part of the force. The army split up again, with a small contingent heading in the direction of the temple, while the bulk of the army headed NW back towards the road to Tarsh.
